Recent data suggests that China's "export growth speed is slowing". But that doesn’t mean it’s slow.
China’s economy might no longer be in fifth gear across the board, but it is in fourth gear still without a doubt. The data shows that while some areas of the economy slowed in April, other segments are still seeing strong performance and hiring continues across many regions and manufacturing sectors.
China’s Premier Wen Jiabao said in March that he was hoping the economy would end the year with 7% growth. But all of the world’s biggest multilateral lending institutions, from the International Monetary Fund to the Asian Development Bank all see China’s GDP topping 9% in 2011.
